Enrique Perez is the creative force behind Salsa Explosion. Born and raised in Pinar del Rio and Havana in Cuba, Enrique has been dancing salsa for over 25 years. A highly respected salsa teacher and DJ in Italy and Ibiza Spain, Enrique exploded onto the UK salsa scene from Ibiza 15 years ago with enough Latin spirit to set the south coast on fire. Enrique quickly established himself as one of the UK's leading Cuban salsa teachers, DJ, promoter and performance artists, winning numerous salsa competitions and performing at some of the country's top salsa dance festivals and events. A finalist in the 1999 British Salsa Championship, Enrique was awarded a Diploma from the United Kingdom Alliance for Dance, Drama and Exercise (U.K.A).
Enrique is Salsa Explosion's lead salsa instructor and teaches a range of classes for all levels. Also in demand as a Salsa and Latin DJ, Enrique runs a number of weekly salsa club nights and special events in and around Bournemouth, bringing some of the UK's finest live bands, DJs, dancers and salsa enthusiasts to the south coast.
In 2006 Enrique was voted the UK’s Most Popular Cuban Salsa Promoter and was awarded a UK Salsa Lifetime Achievement in recognition of his work on the UK Salsa scene at the 6th International UK Salsa Congress in 2007.

Welcome to the official website of the 2nd UK Cuban Salsa Congress in Bournemouth - the South Coast’s premier Cuban Salsa Dance event. Voted the 2nd Best UK Salsa Congress/ Weekender in 2008.
This exciting 3-day event takes place on 7-9th August 2009 in the historic Pavilion Ballroom in Bournemouth, one of the UK’s top tourist and seaside destinations.
Featuring over 70 hours of daytime dance workshops with some of the very best Cuban Salsa teachers in the UK and Europe, 3 spectacular late night Salsa Parties featuring live music and shows by the UK’s hottest Cuban Salsa bands, performers and DJs, loads of Havana Club Rum plus 7 miles of glorious sandy beaches, this is the nearest you will get to Cuba in the UK!

THE VENUE
PAVILION BALLROOM
One of the most beautiful Ballrooms in the UK, 1053m2 maple hardwood sprung dance floor with capacity for over 900 Cuban Salsa lovers!
The Congress takes place in and around the Grade 2 listed Bournemouth Pavilion & Ballroom situated right in the heart of Bournemouth, overlooking the beach, the pier and Bournemouth gardens.
Built in the 1920s, the Pavilion retains its original Art Deco splendour and elegant styling and is Bournemouth's regular home for West End stage shows, Opera, Ballet, Pantomime and Ballroom dancing.
The Pavilion Ballroom is situated to the rear of the complex, overlooking the sea and features a large maple hardwood sprung dance floor. The ballroom is fully air-conditioned with capacity for 900 people and is served by two bars.
This historic building is currently subject to a £13 million redevelopment programme that includes plans for the site to become both a regional and national centre for Dance South West.
PROGRAMME
The programme consists of 3 spectacular evening Salsa Parties, including shows, and over 40 hours of daytime dance workshops on Saturday and Sunday.
The weekend opens with a Salsa Party from 9pm on Friday 25th and ends in the early hours of Monday 28th July 2008.
A registration desk for the Congress will open within the Pavilion from 2.30pm on Friday the 25th of July (and will remain open until 2am) for guests to exchange their printed tickets for Congress wristband passes. All guests will be provided with wrist band passes which must be worn at all times during the weekend and will be checked at the entrance to all workshops and evening parties. Please note that lost, removed or broken wristbands will not be replaced and replacements will need to be purchased from the registration desk. For people arriving on Saturday or Sunday, please register at the Congress Helpdesk at the entrance to the Pavilion Ballroom.
