Enrique Perez is the creative force behind Salsa Explosion. Born and raised in Pinar del Rio and Havana in Cuba, Enrique has been dancing salsa for over 25 years. A highly respected salsa teacher and DJ in Italy and Ibiza Spain, Enrique exploded onto the UK salsa scene from Ibiza 15 years ago with enough Latin spirit to set the south coast on fire. Enrique quickly established himself as one of the UK's leading Cuban salsa teachers, DJ, promoter and performance artists, winning numerous salsa competitions and performing at some of the country's top salsa dance festivals and events. A finalist in the 1999 British Salsa Championship, Enrique was awarded a Diploma from the United Kingdom Alliance for Dance, Drama and Exercise (U.K.A).
Enrique is Salsa Explosion's lead salsa instructor and teaches a range of classes for all levels. Also in demand as a Salsa and Latin DJ, Enrique runs a number of weekly salsa club nights and special events in and around Bournemouth, bringing some of the UK's finest live bands, DJs, dancers and salsa enthusiasts to the south coast.
In 2006 Enrique was voted the UK’s Most Popular Cuban Salsa Promoter and was awarded a UK Salsa Lifetime Achievement in recognition of his work on the UK Salsa scene at the 6th International UK Salsa Congress in 2008.

This exciting 3-day event takes place on 27-29th March 2009 in the historic Opera House in the Boscombe Spa resort area of Bournemouth, one of the UK’s top tourist and seaside destinations.
Featuring over 70 hours of daytime dance workshops with some of the very best Cuban salsa teachersin Europe, 3 spectacular late night Salsa Parties featuring music and shows by Europe's hottest Cuban Salsa performers and DJs, loads of Havana Club Rum plus a live concert by top Cuban band,Manolito Simone y su Trabuco, this is the nearest you will get to Cuba in the UK!
THE VENUE
OPERA HOUSE
Boscombe Grand Theatre was opened on 17th May 1895. The theatre covered an area of some 13,000 square feet. The outer walls were of brick and inside elaborate iron columns supported the balconies.
On either side of the stage were three private boxes. A promenade nine feet wide ran around the outer sides, and there were two lounges and two buffets.
The entertainments offered at the theatre were wide ranging, including variety programmes with singing, dancing and comedy; there were dramas such as 'Trilby' and 'La Dame aux Camellias' and musical productions which even included opera. The theatre was sold at the end of the 1890's and continued to put on high quality productions, but in 1905 it became the Boscombe Hippodrome, a Music and Dance Hall.

MANOLITO Y SU TRABUCO
For those who love traditional Cuban music and are nervous that Timba is a bit too modern for their tastes, Manolito (as well as Los Que Son Son, Orquesta Reve, and Adalberto Alvarez), provide the clearcut entryway to the glories of Cuban music in the 90's and 00's. They combine the authentic flavor of Son with the raw, African fury of Timba in a way that leaves everyone deeply satisfied.
Manolito Simonet for all Cubans. Was born in Camaguey on April 18, 1961. Pianist, keyboard player, arranger and composer. Thanks to his experience in Maravillas de Florida Orchestra he was able to createa new group on February 1993, presenting a Cuban music project based on pure roots but with contemporary tones and harmony at the same time and well elaborated texts about different topics, most of them by his own.
He has been well received by his public since the first album and he has made it big with theme songs like: Todavia no, Marcando la Distancia, El Aguila, Papirriqui con Guaniquiqui, Maria Luisa and La Parranda, among others. In 1994 he won New Orchestra Prize; with a solid background and a great talent, Manolito decides to strengthen his new Trabuco by adding trombones, trumpets and percussion instruments stamping his particular mark with a heavy and strong, but at the same time refined, sound.

Despite his short career, he has recorded 4 CDs which have been well received. They have performed in many stages successfully: Italy, Denmark, Switzerland, Norway, Great Britain, Belgium, United States, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Martinique, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, and Sweden.
Manolito works genres like son, bolero, cha-cha-cha, danzon, timba, guaracha, cumbia, ballenato and some other Caribbean and Cuban rhythms. He has also composed music for films and has won awards and distinctions for his work during all these years.
